to Mr.72 Colour plate? (ColoUr? are you from Canada as well?) to Mr. Paul Fang interesting...
I have never been to Canada, but I did have my college and early career in London U.K.
mr.72: hum..I didn't know English people spell the word color like that as well. never mind.. hey..nice to talking to you, thanks for advicing me.

We tracked most of it into Pro Tools via AD8000 through custom tube mic-pres. One particular song was done thru Yamaha 03d's mic pre-s... Mixing was done with PT actually as a recorder ONLY. Play back thru 24 channels into a Neve VR console. I would say that I would NEVER do any album 100% in Pro Tools! It sounds just too brittle and thin. But treated as a recorder, PT can be really great though...

quote:
Paul Fang: HellO! Michael.. Glad to see you here!

Hi Paul, Yeah, I don't have a life at all other than working like a dog at our studio..! Dragon told me of this forum so I thought I'd spend some time and frequent this place a bit... It looks like it's a US-based site though, right? I just emailed you with for inclusion of some more items for our studio so I'll be hearing from ya... Later,

quote:

I'm having the exact same problem! The black is all falling off and leaving the "silver" showing... I think I'll find some black backing tape (the kind they use to make "kang bang" signs) and just tape the MF up and at least it'll look okay.... At least it isn't mine (belongs to company) so I'm not really fretting... But I'm thinking of getting the SAK-2K someday for my DP setup....

quote:
Mr72: to everyone who seriously concerned about Protools, there is a page about how Aerosmith worked out with ProTools in "push'n'play" album,on this address" http://www.mytekdigital.com/aerosmith.htm. You might feel interesting about the ideal after all !!

They used PT in the same way too mixing on an SSL9000J with DA's from Mytek... I still feel that while mixing 100% in PT is possible, it just depends on the producer's personal taste... some people like it and some people hate it... In my humble opinion, I feel that a combination of analog and digital domains still is the best of both worlds... I would love to mix on an SSL9000J with 32 stems coming out from PT instead of the Neve VR we're using... Mr. 72, does Chiang Li have this ability? I know you guys have got the console but I would like to know about PT over there... What kind of setup is it? Thanks,

To MichealLin We has a control room installed a PT 24 MIX system with 16 faders pro-control(I acturally don't know how many 888I/Os do we have,1or2?but we do have a slow beige G3...)and Dynaudio M3 monitoring..Since you know my base, never hesitate to give a ring,I strongly feel it would be better not to waste too much public space on the web for certain commercial studios or personal career,,, generally,we would transfer on to a DASH tape first, then mix to DAT,,, But ,,I am planing some extension project about a new digital suite, hopefully I would be lucky enough to figure out a set up which could satisfy a higher demanding ref,I just need some more advice from AES then come down to a decision later !! You guys doing pretty cool out there, keep hanging there !!Good Luck !!
