O Tannenbaum (O Christmas Tree) is a German traditional folk song from 16th century. The lyrics orginally describe the evergreen qualities of Fir tree as a symbol of constancy and faithfulness. The custom of decorating Fir tree as Christmas tree develped in the 19th century and after that this sony was regarded as a Christmas Carol.
